PENYU



PENYU
Penyu ialah istilah am bagi kura-kura di lautan. Penyu ialah reptilia yang mempunyai kulit keras di bahagian atas, iaitu cangkerang. Karapasnya terdiri daripada tulang keras yang diliputi perisai besar lagi nipis. Kebanyakan jenis penyu menyorokkan badannya ke dalam cangkerang untuk menghindari serangan musuh. Penyu suka berada di kawasan cetek di zon tropika dan zon iklim sederhana. Penyu hanya berada di darat apabila ingin bertelur. kira-kira 95% penyu akan mengawan dan bertelur di tempatnya menetas.
PUNCA ANCAMAN KEPUPUSAN
  • Sesetengah orang makan daging penyu. Lemaknya boleh diguna untuk menapis minyak . Oleh itu, penyu diburu secara besar-besaran.
  • Manusia mencuri tekur penyu dan menjualnya secara haram.
  • Kadar hidup anak penyu sangat rendah kerana terpaksa menghadapi terlalu banyak pemangsa.

HABITAT

Lautan di zon tropika pantai timur Semenanjung Malaysia dan tempat-tempat lain
